Baby #2

October 22, 2009 Leave a comment

Baby #2 is already on the way. My husband and I are excitedly waiting for this new addition to our family. Like the previous baby, food and travel updates will probably continue until we are holed up and bonding with the new baby.

Carrie Update, The Latest

October 16, 2009 Leave a comment

Carrie’s about 9 months now and frothing at the mouth to walk but she’s still cruising (holding onto furniture, people, anything to get from one spot to another). The other day, she followed me into the bathroom and I thought, this is a small bathroom. The toilet seat and cover are down. There’s nothing she can get into. I can wash my hands in peace. However she proved me wrong because after a minute of washing my hands in the sink, I look down to discover she had unrolled the whole toilet paper roll which now lay on the floor of the bathroom. What am I going to do with my little girl?!

Motherhood 0-6 months

June 15, 2009 Leave a comment

I have not written in my blog since December 2008 since right before I delivered my daughter, Carrie.

Initially, I thought to share some ideas I’ve had on motherhood. After 6 months of being a mother, I think that raising children (well) has got to be one of the toughest things to do as a person. The pain of childbirth (which include 3 days’ worth of labor and pushing out a baby naturally via breech birth) does not compare to the first couple of months of adjusting to a jaundiced and colicky newborn. I remember that I did not sleep much the first three months of Carrie’s life. When she did fall asleep for 1-3 hours at a time, I also remember researching every concern I had online, from jaundice to breastfeeding to poo color to babies’  hair falling out. I got so much good advice (from my mother and mil) but my main source of information was always online at medical websites, the la leche league website, and mommy forums. I found that being a mom means standing up for your beliefs despite everyone’s well meaning advice whether that means having a natural birth instead of a medically induced birth, breastfeeding instead of bottlefeeding, and the list goes on and on.

New doctor and new hospital

November 20, 2008 Leave a comment

Last week, I toured the hospital where my current obgyn is affiliated and was not impressed. So today, I met with another obgyn practice that is affiliated with the hospital I do prefer. Although I’m a couple days from my eighth month (whoohoo), it was relatively easy to switch because the pregnancy’s uncomplicated and I don’t anticipate any problems at all with the delivery.

On a side note, my husband’s cousin and wife delivered their 7 pound 2 ounce baby girl last night in San Diego, CA. I’m so excited for them.

Baby’s travels

November 19, 2008 Leave a comment

Since I’ve been pregnant, I’ve done alot of traveling and wanted to keep a log of the cities that the baby’s been to:

  1. Providence, RI
  2. Seattle, WA
  3. Vancouver, British Columbia
  4. Alberta, British Columbia
  5. Ocho Rios, Jamaica
  6. New York City, NY
  7. Honolulu, HI
  8. Lanai, HI
  9. Birmingham, AL

I think I can safely stop the list there as I won’t be traveling anymore for the duration of the pregnancy 😦 I’m looking forward to traveling again in the spring of 2009. I just wonder how easy it’ll be to travel with and without baby…. Probably not as easy as it was during the pregnancy.

Baby poll

October 29, 2008 Leave a comment

Since my husband and I threw out the idea of organizing a competitive pool on the baby’s gender, I decided to put a poll up on the blog just to get an idea of what folks really think. Let’s see who gets it right in January.

And here’s the poll for the baby’s due date.

Shout outs

October 29, 2008 Leave a comment

My 3 sisters and sister-in-law threw me an amazing baby shower recently and I wanted to send them a public shout out.

Thanks girls! You’re the best sisters ever. The food was great, of course. We had banh chow, spring rolls, chicken wings, and exotic asian fruits for dessert.

Thanks also to my very best friends (from childhood and now in womanhood) and my cousins whom I would do anything for.

You all probably already received the cheesy thank you notes I sent but I thought I needed to say it again. I love you all!
