Odeon Cafe * Dupont Circle * Washington, DC

Earlier this week, I met with several co-workers, a former co-worker and her 6-month old baby for lunch at Odeon Cafe, an Italian bistro (www.odeoncafedc.com) located in Dupont Circle. We ordered some classic entrees (spaghetti and meatballs, penne puttanesca, manicotti alla panna) and other items that weren’t so Italian such as chicken caesar salad. Overall, everyone enjoyed their meals. There was nothing really amazing about the food so I’d rate the food a 2.25 out of 5.

As for the ambiance, I would say a 2.75 out of 5 because it was maybe a notch beyond average. The service receives a 3.5 out of 5 (or pretty good) from me. The main reason was that we ate lunch at 2p and missed the lunch crowd almost entirely. Basically, we had the restaurant to ourselves and loved that the staff really catered to us and the baby. As we were leaving, the waiter personally extended an invitation for us to come back and even remembers that we had been there in the past for a co-worker’s birthday happy hour.

I think I would probably eat here again although I’m not in any hurry to go back soon. I may go back to try the brunch and dinner menus so there will probably be another entry/review about Odeon Cafe in the future. Stay tuned….
